Reflections regarding the trip(Part A)

My group felt appalled when we saw the clutters of litter partially blocking the drainage.Even more amazing was that we managed to spot few fishes swimming in the murky lake water. They were literally "thriving" and  adapting to their new challenging environment. My group thought that the environment could be improved on as it is quite polluted. In order for us to enjoy fresh and clean air in the park, actions need to be taken quickly so as not to upset the balance of the ecosystem. We need to preserve the environment by promoting awareness of the environmental crisis we face.I personally felt a pang of disgust as I recalled one teenager in a crowded area casually discarding his rubbish on the floor, without any sense of responsibility and remorse. The Jurong Town Council needs to take immediate action and we,Singaporeans, have to play a part by throwing rubbish into dustbins and picking up litter whenever we encounter some.Although it may not be a lot, it is still considered as a contribution and with each growing support, imagine what we could achieve. The lake water should have stronger filters though, to further process and purify the water to ensure that the conditions of the water are desirable. The Jurong Town Council also needs to employ more cleaners to sweep away fallen leaves as well as build mini-barriers to prevent soil from contaminating the water. As part of a town council, they should focus on how to improve the welfare of the residents.

History of the Jurong Lake Park(Part A)

Jurong Lake lies next to Lakeside MRT Station which derived its name from its geographical feature.Jurong Lake  is a 70ha freshwater lake and reservoir located in the western region of Singapore formed with the damming of Sungei Jurong further downstream. The lake serves as a reservoir contributing to the water supply of the country. It lies next to the Lakeside MRT Station, which derived its name from this geographical feature. The lake is surrounded by parkland, which serves as a recreational ground for nearby residents in Jurong East and Jurong West New Towns.

There are several tourist attractions located near or even within the Lake, including a Chinese Garden and a Japanese Garden, which are located on their respective islands within the lake, as well as the nearby Tang Dynasty Village, which has since closed down. Amenities such as the Jurong East Swimming Complex, Jurong East Stadium and Jurong Point Shopping Centre are also relatively nearby. Jurong Country Club lies further south along Yuan Ching Road.

A landscaped sanctuary called Jurong Lake Park was built around the perimeter of the lake and work was completed in January 2006. Also, a 2.8 kilometre water promenade along Jurong Lake Park would allow residents to participate in watersports.

As is the case for most other reservoirs in Singapore, fishing and swimming are currently illegal in the lake, although this may change in line with the Singapore government's liberalisation of the use of bodies of water in the republic. However, the water is noted to be green in colour during dry weather and a murky brown after a downpour, the likely result of runoff from its urban catchment area.

The lake came into prominence in 2002 when a boy fell into a drain which led to Sungei Lanchar during a thunderstorm. His lifeless body was subsequently found in the lake after a search operation two days after the incident.

Introduction of Jurong Lake Park(Part A)

Jurong Lake Park is a nature park where vast varieties of plants and animals currently reside in this mini reservoir.Intriguing and interesting life almost exists everywhere and that makes Jurong Lake Park stand out with its creative and unqiue landscape of the area.Aquatic life, however seems to be affected by the construction work being carried out there. In certain parts of the lake, it is evident that litter is present as rubbish floats on the surface of the murky brown lake water.
